Joey Edelman
STAFF INSTRUCTOR: PIANO & KEYBOARDS
Pianist Joey Edelman has been playing music professionally in the Bay Area for over 30 years and teaching for 20. Great with kids, teens and adults alike, Joey emphasizes the musical interests of the student, while also developing theory, harmony, technique and musicianship skills. From blues, jazz, rock, pop, or classical styles, students develop a whole approach to music that transcends stylistic limitations.
Joey received a Bachelor of Music from San Francisco State University, where he was awarded the Zech cup for outstanding graduating senior. Joey studied with George Cables, Mark Levine, Eric Moe and Mary Fleming among others. As a performer and composer he has collaborated with a range of musicians, including John Handy, Frank Tusa, Vince Delgado, Jose “Chepito” Areas, Martin Fiero, Jules Broussard, and Jeff Massanari. Joey is a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California.
