Longtime student and board member Steph Lapine is also a dedicated volunteer for West Marin Little League, where her sons Kevin and Austin love to play ball. Always looking for ways to spread the word about the benefits of music-making, Steph and fellow board member Brent Morton generously provided funds for MCMS to sponsor a team (The Bats) and mount a sign on the outfield fence on the Fairfax ballfield in 2015. Many thanks to Steph and Brent for renewing their support in the new year.
As our Sunday morning coached chamber music workshops have grown in popularity, we are keen on serving a broader and more diverse community of string and wind players and pianists, including beginners, teens, and performers. We are also very interested in serving players who are able to commit to regular attendance, and will be giving priority to those participants when arranging Sunday morning coaching.
We are also offering opportunities to play on weekdays and Saturdays when demand warrants, so please let us know your availability and preferences by completing this brief online survey.
Each Sunday, from two to three small chamber ensembles of amateur musicians form trios, quartets, and quintets to study and play music from the classical chamber music repertoire under the guidance of professional coaches. While most participants live in Marin County, the program draws players from San Francisco, Sonoma, Alameda, Contra Costa, and the Peninsula. The program is open to players of all ages.
The ACMP grant will be used to underwrite the program’s coaching team. For more information, please contact ACMP Foundation.
We are very pleased to announce that MCMS now offers financial aid to students in both private lessons and small group classes. If you would like to learn more or receive a financial aid application, please contact us right away.
